NYC Mayor Eric Adams Sues Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok And YouTube For Addicting Influence On Teens

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is putting his foot down following an interesting announcement that his administration has filed a lawsuit against a series of social media owners upon claims of damaging teenagers mental health!

According to The Daily Beast. Mayor Adams announced the suit on Thursday, February 15th while at City Hall. Alongside his administration, the city of New York has taken legal action against the owners of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat; accusing the companies of creating, benefiting, and marketing their products to, “attract, capture and addict,” teens.

Mayor Adams states that the purpose of the suit is to have each company pay for their alleged responsibility in causing havoc for New York City’s youth regarding their mental health.

Reports read that the suit also accuses the five companies of negligence, gross negligence, and public nuisance.

“Over the past decade, we have seen just how addictive and overwhelming the online world can be, exposing our children to a non-stop stream of harmful content and fueling our national youth mental health crisis,” says Mayor Adams said in an issued statement.
