NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — In an incident of domestic violence, a man shoved his girlfriend onto subway tracks in a lower Manhattan subway station on Saturday morning, and an arriving train cut off her feet, officials said.
According to the NYPD, a man got into a dispute with his girlfriend at the Fulton Street subway station at about 10:30 a.m.
As a result of the dispute, he shoved her onto the subway tracks as a southbound 3 train pulled up, police said.
Authorities said that the train amputated the woman’s feet.
The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, the FDNY said.
Subway service resumed around 1 p.m., but into the afternoon NYPD detectives were still combing through the Fulton Street subway station in the Financial District to help in their investigation.
1010 WINS/WCBS 880 spoke with William C, a Good Samaritan who aided the woman after the train struck.
William said that he has a military background, having served as a Drill Sergeant and toured in Iraq, so when he heard someone was hit, he went to the scene to “see if [there was] any place to contribute without causing a problem.”
