Watch as Hoboken police officer stages pulling over his girlfriend before he proposes

When Florencia Coccoz got pulled over right outside of her job at Belo Bar in Hoboken, she had no idea what was coming next.

She pulled over, texted her boyfriend, Hoboken police officer Chris Soto, and waited for the cop to approach her. When he did, he asked for her information and said that she matched the description for a hit-and-run, asking if the “damage” on the side of her car was new. Then another police car pulled up behind them as “backup.”

Coccoz got out of the car to see the nonexistent damage and then noticed a group of people across the street, one of which was her nephew.

“At this point I knew something was happening and I was instantly in shock,” said Coccoz.

Seconds later, Soto was on one knee proposing to Coccoz, his girlfriend of 12 years.

“Florencia is a teacher, however, works at Belo Bar on the weekends, which happens to be right next door to police headquarters. I knew the route she takes into work on the weekends, so I planned for a co-worker to pull her over right in front of the bar,” said Soto. “I wasn’t working that day, so I knew she wouldn’t be expecting to see me.”
