Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Developing Across Parts of Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania

Gusty Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Likely in NYC This Afternoon

09/07/24 10:53am ET

Good morning everyone. We have a busy day in the Northeast as a strong cold front sweeps on by to give us a very comfortable few days behind it. But first, we need to get through a round of gusty heavy showers and thunderstorms that are currently pushing through central New York and Pennsylvania.

As of now, we don’t see any severe weather, but there could be some isolated instances of damaging winds and hail. Wind will be the primary component of this line, and we are expecting a gust front to push through with some heavy showers and/or storms some time time between 3 and 6pm across the New York City Metro Area.

Look for locally damaging winds, some small hail possible, and brief heavy rain. The best chance to see locally severe weather will be in northwest New Jersey, northeast Pennsylvania, and southeast New York.

Behind it, we are looking at widespread upper 60’s to low 70’s across the region, with some cooler temps across the Adirondacks and down in the Appalachians; where we could see some scattered frost in higher elevation valleys, especially in parts of West Virginia.
