Severe Weather Possible Across Parts of New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio

Widespread Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Likely Across Much of Florida

Good morning everyone. The Northeast is sitting pretty today with sunshine and mild temps for the most part, but things are about to change as a cold front sweeps through. That’ll bring a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms through the region, with most of the energy concentrated from New York City on northward tomorrow morning. Things will clear out late, then we have sunshine and cool conditions in the 60’s for the rest of the week.

That front has a different story for western New York, Pennsylvania, and parts of Ohio for today. A narrow line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to develop later on today, bringing with it the risk of damaging winds approaching 60mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. As of now, our tornado risk is low, but damaging winds will be a big player with this narrow & fast moving line of thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Texas and Louisiana catch a break with the rain, but that’s because everything is organizing and shifting east towards Florida. A stationary front has draped itself over central Florida, helping to direct all of that tropical energy from the Gulf of Mexico, and into the state.
