Would-be kidnapper demands mom hand over 2-year-old in NYC laundry room

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A stranger demanded a mother hand over her 2-year-old in the laundry room of a Bronx building this week, but the mom was able to get away and the child is safe, police said.

The 23-year-old mom and her child were inside the laundry room at 988 East 180 St., a residential building in West Farms, on Tuesday evening when the mystery woman approached them around 6:50 p.m., according to cops.

She grabbed the mom by the arm and “demanded she give her the child,” police said.

The mom and toddler were able to escape the would-be kidnapper.

The suspect fled into an elevator and exited on the 12 th floor of the building, police said.

No injuries were reported.
