Queens firefighter arrested after allegedly choking ex-wife in front of 8-year-old daughter

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens firefighter was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly choked his ex-wife in front of their child, the NYPD said.

Joseph Johnson, a 47-year-old FDNY firefighter, was arrested in eastern Queens after the alleged assault,

Police said that Johnson was involved in a dispute with his 36-year-old ex-wife inside her home in Rosedale at about 3:20 p.m. on Saturday.

During the altercation, officials said Johnson wrapped his hands around his ex-wife’s neck, leaving marks and causing her pain.

The assault occurred in front of the pair’s 8-year-old daughter, police said.

Johnson is charged with second-degree strangulation and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
