An Iconic Seafood Restaurant to Reopen After Nearly 20 Years

Lundy’s, which first opened in 1920, had been a seafood icon of Sheepshead Bay until it closed in 1979, then reopened and shuttered in 2007. Now there’s an attempt to open Lundy’s – at 44 Beard Street, at Dwight Street – in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The project is spearheaded by Sandra Snyder (wife of Red Hook Winery’s Mark Snyder); She told Gothamist that Frank Cretella, who revived Lundy’s in the ’90s (and owns the name), handed the name over and “wished us well,” she said. The Snyders say it’s a “nostalgic place” for them and want to bring back “old-school dining” to Brooklyn.
