Man shot in Harlem park during attempted mugging by 5 men: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was shot in the leg during an attempted mugging in East Harlem on Tuesday, according to police.

Five suspects approached a 33-year-old man who was riding an e-bike  at around 10:45 p.m. near East 124th Street and Madison Avenue at Marcus Garvey Park, cops said.

The suspects tried to steal his bike and anything else on him.  When the victim refused, one of the suspects shot him in the leg, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

One person of interest was into custody, and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Police said the remaining suspects fled the location and are still being sought.

An investigation is ongoing.
