Death of 11-month-old girl in the Bronx ruled homicide

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The death of an 11-month-old girl in the Bronx in August has been deemed a homicide, the NYPD said Friday.

The city medical examiner made the determination in the case of Jazeli Mirabal, who was found unresponsive at her family’s apartment on Aug. 14.

Officers responding to the apartment at 1314 West Farms Rd. in Crotona Park East around 7:40 p.m. discovered Mirabal unconscious and barely breathing, police said. She was reportedly found in the bathtub.

EMS rushed her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The child’s mother was in the apartment when officers arrived and spoke with police, sources told 1010 WINS at the time.

Police said Friday that no arrests had been made in the case as the investigation continues.
