NEW YORK (PIX11) – A “legal fundraiser” has raised over $100,000 for alleged United Healthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione, PIX11 News has learned. The fundraiser would seemingly cover Mangione’s legal fees.
Over 6,000 donations have been received.
The fundraiser has also been shared nearly 2,000 times, according to the website GiveSendGo .
What Mayor Adams told Luigi Mangione when they met in NYC
“We are writing to him and his lawyer to open a line of communication,” read the fundraiser. “We are including some of the anonymous comments people have left here. All proceeds will be sent directly to Luigi or, if he chooses to reject the funds, they will instead be donated to legal funds for other U.S political prisoners and defendants facing politicized charges.”
Mangione, 26, is accused of ambushing and shooting Thompson on Dec. 4 outside a Manhattan hotel where the CEO of the largest U.S. medical insurance company was heading to an investor conference. Investigators believe Mangione was motivated by anger toward the U.S. healthcare system and corporate greed.
