Polar vortex to bring shockingly cold temps, potential snowstorm to the Big Apple: ‘May not be escaping the 30s’

Time to bundle up, Big Apple.

A polar vortex moving across the eastern half of the United States is set to bring shockingly cold temps to New York City — along with a potential snowstorm.

“We’re expecting high temperatures in the New York City area to be falling as we get into the start of 2025,” Fox Forecast Center meteorologist Christopher Tate told The Post.

“By the time we get into next week, we may not be escaping the 30s,” Tate said, later adding, “It’s going to be chilly, for sure.”

While it’s still too early to tell exactly what the polar vortex has in store for New York City, there is potential for a storm to develop in the first half of next week.

“Any storm track that changes, even just 50 miles to the north of the South, will have a significant impact on whether we get snow, ice or rain in the metro. It’s a very fine line that we have to walk to get a bona fide snowstorm here in New York City,” Tate said.
