Man attacked for refusing to swipe MetroCard for stranger: NYPD

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 55-year-old man was allegedly attacked inside a subway station for refusing to swipe his MetroCard for a stranger, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on March 17 in the 23rd Street station.

Police say that the unidentified individual asked the victim to swipe a MetroCard for him, but when the victim refused, the individual shoved him to the ground. As he fell, the victim hit his head on the turnstile and sustained a laceration.

The suspect fled the station on foot. The NYPD released the following surveillance video of the suspect.

EMS took the victim to a local hospital for treatment…
