Elderly Bronx Couple Found Safe at Manhattan Hospital After Disappearance

An elderly couple from the Bronx reported missing has been found safe at a Manhattan hospital. Vitelio Sanchez, 82, and his wife, Luisa Sanchez, 85, disappeared after last being seen leaving their apartment building on Gerard Avenue last Monday around 2 p.m. The persistent search for the pair ended after they were located at Mount Sinai West Hospital in East Harlem.

About the incident, police mentioned they went missing last Sunday, March 23; however, the couple had been spotted leaving their residence on the following day, according to a report by News 12 Bronx. The whereabouts of Vitelio and Luisa’s conditions remain under wraps, but both are confirmed to be in safe hands. Vitelio Sanchez suffered a stroke last Monday afternoon while accompanying his wife to an appointment at the hospital, where they were eventually found.

Luisa Sanchez, who has dementia and was without any identification, began wandering the hospital premises. Eyewitness News reports that the couple remained inside the hospital the whole time and are continuing to stay there as medical professionals carry out necessary examinations.
