Social Security payments for April will soon be distributed to approximately 69 million Americans, including retirees and those with qualifying disabilities.
For most recipients, Social Security payments are issued on Wednesdays throughout the month. If your birthdate falls between the 1st and 10th, you will receive your payment on the second Wednesday; between the 11th and 20th, your payment will come on the third Wednesday; and if your birthdate is after the 20th, you will be paid on the fourth Wednesday, according to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) schedule.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive their April payment on Tuesday, April 1. The SSA recommends allowing three additional mailing days before contacting them if you don’t receive your payment on the expected date, as 99% of payments are processed electronically.
Social Security payment schedule for April 2025
The Social Security Administration’s yearly distribution schedules for 2025 and 2026 are available online to allow recipients to use the calendar for budgeting purposes. Regular Social Security retirement benefits will be sent out on the SSA’s usual schedule:
- Wednesday, April 9 : Birthdates between the 1st and 10th
- Wednesday, April 16 : Birthdates between the 11th and 20th
- Wednesday, April 23 : Birthdates between the 21st and 31st
