FDNY Quickly Contain Fire at Golden Nail Spa on Broadway

A fire broke out at Golden Nail Spa on Wednesday night, prompting a swift FDNY response. The fire was reported at 9:39 p.m. at 2181 Broadway, between West 77th and 78th streets, in a 15-story mixed-occupancy building.

Firefighters arrived within minutes, with 20 units and 78 fire and EMS personnel dispatched to the scene, according to an FDNY spokesperson. Smoke and flames were detected on the first floor, where the spa is located. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, bringing it under control by 10:04 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

When ILTUWS arrived on the scene, Broadway was closed in both directions, with fire trucks and EMS vehicles blocking traffic around West 78th Street. Water was being shoveled out of Golden Nail Spa as firefighters assessed the damage. The scent of smoke lingered in the air, and bystanders gathered across the street near CVS Pharmacy, watching as first responders wrapped up their work.

Firefighters appeared in good spirits after successfully containing the blaze. One firefighter told ILTUWS that no one was injured. Golden Nail Spa is located next to a T-Mobile store and a MedRite Urgent Care facility.
