USPS employee sentenced for stealing checks and credit cards from mail

NEW YORK (PIX11) — There might be a reason some lost mail was never returned to sender.

A United States Postal Service employee stationed in Midtown, Manhattan was sentenced to three years of conditional discharge for stealing checks and credit cards from the mail, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.

The 36-year-old woman admitted to colluding with her 34-year-old partner to operate the scheme from May 14, 2021 through March 10, 2022.

During that time the postal employee would identify and take envelopes containing credit cards or checks and then use them to shop at stores like Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, B&H Photo, BJ’s Wholesale and Duane Reade.
