The captain of a boat that was engulfed in flames in the Bronx on Saturday has been arrested for allegedly driving the vessel while intoxicated.
Terrifying scenes unfolded off of Hart Island just after 8pm as a boat burst into flames near the east end of the island. Marine 4, an FDNY boat was doing routine patrols in the Long Island Sound and Eastchester Bay when the fire broke out.
Rescuers pulled three people from the water. One person is in critical condition, another is in serious condition and the third is in stable condition, ABC 7 reports. A total of 19 other people were able to swim to the shore of Hart Island and were transported to City Island to be evaluated.
