Two inmates at Hudson County jail die in one week after falling ill, official says

Two inmates at the Hudson County Correctional Facility died in one week after falling ill, according to County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Caitlin Mota.

On Sunday, June 8th, just after 2:30 p.m., members of the Hudson County Correctional Facility were notified of a sick inmate. While being attended to, the 44-year-old man, of Linden, became unresponsive, Mota said following an inquiry from this reporter.

Officers and medical personnel immediately rendered aid to the inmate. He was pronounced dead a short time later. The inmate was being detained on charges out of Union County.

Then, on Sunday, June 15th, shortly after 7 a.m., members of the Hudson County Correctional Facility were notified of a sick inmate. While being attended to, the 31-year-old man, of Jersey City, became unresponsive…
