Columbia Residential informed around 160 School of General Studies students living in or expecting to move into 600 W. 113th St. and 503 W. 121st St., in a June 30 email, that they needed to move out of their current residences by July 25 without explanation.
This move affects roughly 110 students currently living in the two buildings and 50 students who expected to move in before the start of the fall semester. Spectator obtained copies of the email sent by Columbia Residential, which states that units in 600 W. 113th St., known as Nuss, and 503 W. 121st St., known as The Fairholm, will “no longer be available for the upcoming academic year.”
The email requested that students fill out a form by July 6 to indicate whether they would like to be relocated into different Columbia Residential housing or cancel their University housing agreement without penalty. The University has since sent housing reassignments to impacted students…
