Giancarlo Pontecorvo, 26, of Ridgefield, who was participating in the peaceful protest on Saturday, July 12, organized by United Without Fear, first got into an altercation with an individual at 6 Anderson Ave., Fairview Police Chief Vincent Bellucci said.
Pontecorvo crossed the street from the demonstration and began arguing with the victim on the sidewalk, the chief said. During the argument, Pontecorvo spat in his face and left the area, according to Bellucci.
