Can you still get a school zone speed camera ticket in NYC during the summer?

While the summer months typically represent a break from all things school related, that doesn’t hold true for New York City’s network of school zone speed cameras, as the cameras operate even when classes aren’t in session.

At one point, the speed cameras in New York City had much more restricted hours. They would only operate on weekdays, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., possibly adding to the confusion.

Beginning in August 2022, the speed cameras, which must be placed within a quarter-mile radial distance from a school building, issue fines 24/7, 365 days a year to any driver caught exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 10 miles per hour…
