New York City is about to experience a dangerous bout of extreme heat followed by a severe storm threat – all in one day.
Heat advisories and extreme heat warnings have been put in place across the Tri-State Area as temperatures are set to peak on Friday. While it’s not unusual for some of the hottest days of the year to occur in late July, Friday’s weather could set heat records in several areas.
As the heat soars, so will the humidity levels. The dew point, the measure of moisture in the atmosphere, is set to hit 70. The hot weather is being created by a sweltering and intense triple-digit heat dome as people are urged to take action.
