New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov has expressed concern over Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral bid, claiming it has fueled fears of rising instability in New York City. She noted that some constituents are considering leaving the city due to his campaign. Mamdani’s candidacy has also faced strong criticism from Jewish organizations and GOP leaders.
Vernikov noted growing unease among Jewish residents over Mamdani’s campaign. She cited his past ties to anti-Israel groups, including his role in founding a Students for Justice in Palestine while in college.
Vernikov said, “The problem with the Democratic Party is it’s no longer the Democratic Party of JFK. It’s the Democratic Party of AOC and all the radicals. It has radically moved to the left, and a lot of Democrats are now put into this position: Do we endorse this guy or do we stay away from this guy?”…
