It’s not every day you see an elderly man in a scooter starring in his own low-speed crime drama on the streets of New York City, but that’s exactly what happened on 7th Avenue. A short clip, barely 30 seconds long, captured the moment when a man on a mobility scooter drove alongside a car and, without hesitation, dragged his key across the vehicle’s door. In the background, The Beatles’ Hey Jude can be heard from the driver’s stereo. At first, the driver inched forward, maybe testing if the stranger would give up. But no, the scooter kept pace. At one point, the man appeared in the driver’s side mirror, only to steer back next to the door as if to make it clear he wasn’t going anywhere.
The most unsettling part wasn’t the act itself, but the man’s vacant expression. He scratched the car without raising his voice or showing anger. Just a steady, mechanical swipe. He even looked up at the driver as if to lock eyes briefly before continuing. The driver, on the other hand, seemed to stay oddly quiet until the very end, when he cried out “oh my god” twice as though he had only just realized what was happening. Moments later, the scooter man simply rolled off down the street, leaving dents and confusion in his wake.
He must believe he’s untouchable…
