MANHATTAN, NY – A 46-year-old food vendor was held up at gunpoint early Monday morning by two young men who made off with hundreds in cash after a failed attempt to rip open his register, police said.
The robbery unfolded around 1:20 a.m. on August 11 near the corner of Madison Avenue and East 99th Street. According to the NYPD, two unidentified males approached the street vendor’s cart and attempted to forcibly access his cash drawer. When the vendor resisted, a brief struggle ensued.
During the confrontation, one of the individuals pulled a firearm and threatened the vendor, then grabbed approximately $250 in cash before both suspects fled on foot, heading southbound on Madison Avenue. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the incident…
