Dining out in New York is supposed to be a treat. Whether you’re grabbing a slice of pizza, a bagel, or in this case, a chicken wrap, the last thing you expect is to bite into something not on the menu. Unfortunately for one woman in Astoria, Queens, a quick lunch run allegedly turned into one of the most shocking food horror stories you’ll ever hear.
According to a new lawsuit, Mary Elizabeth Smith says she ordered a chicken wrap from a local restaurant called Create. What she claims happened next sounds like something straight out of a late-night TV sketch, except it’s very real, and very disturbing. Smith says that as she bit into her wrap, she suddenly realized there was more than chicken and lettuce in her mouth. According to her filing, she discovered a human fingertip “fully in her mouth after biting into the chicken wrap.” Yes, you read that correctly: a fingertip.
Food scares aren’t new in New York. Every few years, a story pops up about bugs, rodents, or questionable hygiene practices at restaurants. But a piece of human tissue? That’s nightmare fuel on a whole other level. Smith’s lawsuit claims that she has been left with “severe, catastrophic, and permanent injuries” because of the incident. And honestly, can you blame her? It’s hard to imagine taking another carefree bite of takeout after something like that.

Her attorney, Robert Menna, didn’t mince words, saying, “You simply can’t serve food with human tissue.” According to him, lab testing confirmed the piece was indeed human tissue and that it belonged to a woman. This detail only deepens the mystery, since the restaurant owner has publicly denied the claim—insisting that no female workers were even on duty that day…
