18-year-old faces attempted murder charge for subway train stabbing in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — An 18-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old woman inside a subway car in August, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr. announced Wednesday.

Brandon Balfour was also indicted on multiple assault and robbery charges.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Aug. 6 on a northbound no. 3 train, prosecutors say. While the train approached the Wall Street and Williams Street station, the defendant approached the victim before stabbing her in the back and arm with a large knife.
