ICE officer seen on video ‘violently attacking’ journalists in NYC courthouse

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Video shows an officer with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement “violently attacking” journalists at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan on Tuesday morning, according to New York City Comptroller Brad Lander.

Social media posts by Gothamist reporter Arya Sundraram and freelance photojournalist Stephanie Keith confirm the alleged assault on the journalists.

The reporters, from media outlets amNewYork and the Anadolu Agency, were documenting the arrests of individuals attending immigration court proceedings, according to New York City Council Member Tif fany Cabán.

“Two women came out from the court and went to the elevators, then the ICE agents went into the elevator behind them. That’s when everyone realized they were about to be detained,” Keith said in a phone interview with PIX11 News. “Usually, if they are going to detain the person, they get them as soon as they come out of the court, but today, I guess they were trying something new and got in the elevator with them. It was kind of crazy, and it all happened out of the blue. They were screaming Get the [expletive] out of the way.”…
