(WRGB) — An 18-year-old from the Bronx is facing multiple charges after leading New York State Police on two separate high-speed pursuits across Ulster, Greene, and Catskill on September 27, 2025.
Troopers say the incident began around 9:03 PM on September 27, when a trooper assigned to State Police Kingston attempted to stop a 2010 Nissan traveling northbound on Interstate 87 in New Paltz for a traffic violation. The driver refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit that lasted about 12 minutes and reached speeds up to 130 miles per hour before troopers ended the chase.
A short time later, troopers located the vehicle again in the town of Catskill and attempted another stop. The driver once again did not comply, leading to a second chase. During the pursuit, police successfully deployed a tire deflation device. Investigators say the suspect vehicle swerved, struck a marked State Police car, and then hit guide rails on both shoulders before troopers used a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to bring it to a stop…
