BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A mother is a person of interest after her 1-year-old son was found beaten to death in a Brooklyn apartment on Friday, according to police sources.
Officers found the baby, Anthony Casey, unconscious in the apartment on Newport Street in Brownsville at around 5 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Authorities did not initially suspect the incident was suspicious until the medical examiner determined the boy died from blunt force injuries to the torso, sources said. The case has been ruled a homicide.
