Construction worker dies after plunging into pit on West Side

A construction worker on Manhattan’s West Side died after plunging down a 60-foot hole Thursday morning, police say.

It happened just before 9 a.m. at a construction site located at the rail yards at 12th Avenue and 30th Street near Hudson Yards.

“We encountered a construction worker at the bottom of the pit, 60 feet down. Our units proceeded down a staircase, immediately provided patient care. One engine provide CPR, checked the victim for a pulse. They determined there was no pulse and no breathing,” FDNY Battalion Chief Anthony Romano said on the scene…
