The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) announced the death of Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman on October 29, 2025. Commissioner Robert S. Tucker stated that Abdur Rahman had served with the FDNY for more than 20 years. He was 46 years old and died after completing a shift at the FDNY Training Academy on Randall’s Island.
Abdur Rahman joined the FDNY in 2002. He worked at several Manhattan stations, including Kips Bay, Harlem, and Washington Heights. He became a paramedic in 2021 and was most recently assigned to the Training Academy. Colleagues noted his work mentoring EMTs and paramedics.
Abdur Rahman lived in Manhattan. He is survived by his wife, Nura Abdul-Karim, and their three daughters. He served five years in the Marine Corps in Japan and was a Boy Scout leader in his community…
