Former tenant accused of robbing NYC landlord, 99, who later died

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) — A former tenant is accused of robbing a 99-year-old Manhattan landlord, who died after suffering a stroke in the aftermath of the incident, authorities said.

Domingo Vasquez Rodriguez, 39, was arrested Friday and charged with robbery, burglary, assault, and grand larceny in connection with the Sept. 22 incident, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Jose Antonio Tur died on Oct. 8 after suffering a stroke after he was robbed at gunpoint at his building near West 187th Street and Audubon Avenue in Washington Heights on the morning of Sept. 22, according to police and sources.

Vasquez Rodriguez used to live in the building and owed Tur more than $30,000 in late rent payments, prosecutors said. In August, Tur offered the defendant $8,000 to leave the apartment, and he moved to Pennsylvania…
