18-Year-Old Slashed in the Face During Late-Night Attack in New York City; Suspect Asked About Gang Affiliation

New York City, NY – A late-night attack in the heart of Times Square left an 18-year-old with a facial slash after a disturbing encounter with a stranger who allegedly asked him if he was part of a gang, according to NYPD officials and police sources.

The violent episode unfolded around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday in front of the 3 Times Square skyscraper on Seventh Avenue near West 43rd Street, a location usually bustling with tourists even in the early morning hours.

According to authorities, the unidentified attacker approached the teen and questioned him about gang affiliation, asking if he “belonged to a gang.” It remains unclear whether the victim responded before the situation escalated into violence.

Moments later, the suspect slashed the victim across the face with what police described as a “cutting instrument.”
