NEW YORK (PIX11) – SNAP benefits are expected to be distributed to New York City residents beginning on Sunday, according to Mayor Eric Adams.
Adams made the announcement on X, writing, “Thank you, @GovKathyHochul, for ensuring our families are taken care of and fed. SNAP funds will be dispersed starting tomorrow, but New Yorkers can always access resources to find groceries or meals. We will always take care of each other.”

Hochul initially announced on Friday that she directed state agencies to give out full SNAP benefits to New Yorkers. She later posted a video to X on Saturday, where she wrote in the caption, “Donald Trump is going to extraordinary lengths to ensure millions of Americans go hungry. To every New Yorker impacted by this depraved decision: I have your back and I’m not going to back down from this fight.”
Saturday’s video followed a Supreme Court ruling on Friday that allowed the Trump administration not to fully fund SNAP. The federal government appealed an earlier court order that would force it to pay for SNAP in full instead of partially.
