NYC affordable housing lotteries with units that cost $0 a month in rent

NEW YORK (PIX11) – There is an option for New Yorkers to rent an apartment without having to pay any rent, according to NYC Housing Connect.

Some units are available for $0, depending on whether you make any income, qualify for Section 8 housing and someone in your household is aged 62 or older. If you meet those requirements, you wouldn’t have to pay rent every month.

El Hogar

  • Location: 2444 Tiebout Ave., Bronx
  • Units available for $0 rent: 27 studio apartments, 5 one-bedroom apartments
  • Household size maximum: 2 people for studio, 3 people for one bedroom
  • Asset limit: $64,800
  • Amenities: Resident manager, 24-hour lobby security, in-unit intercom and nurse call, energy-efficient appliances, fitness center, computer lounge, recreation room, bicycle storage and communal laundry room

Stevenson Senior Residences

  • Location: 1841 Seward Ave., Bronx
  • Units available for $0 rent: 40 studio apartments
  • Household size maximum: 2 people
  • Asset limit: $81,000
  • Amenities: Community spaces, courtyard, 2 pets allowed, terrace, laundry room and a gym
