Two Earthquakes Strike New York Minutes Apart

According to USGS, two weak earthquakes struck New York minutes apart, one just north of New York City, the other just south of the international border with Canada.

The first earthquake struck at 7:16 pm last night near Massena, about 40 miles north of New York City. Striking at a depth of 5 km, the earthquake was rated a weak magnitude 1.6 event.

The second earthquake struck near Chappaqua minutes later at 7:39 pm from a depth of 5 km too. The second earthquake was weaker than the first and was rated by USGS as a magnitude 1.5 event…
