UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Two Upper East Side sisters in their 70s are fighting to stay in the affordable apartment they’ve called home for more than a decade.
Roseann and Evelyn used to live with a longtime friend in a Mitchell-Lama apartment on Second Avenue and East 92nd Street.

That woman, who is the shareholder, moved to Florida in 2018. The sisters began the formal succession process, but in 2019, the city’s Housing Preservation and Development denied their request to take over the apartment. The women said they heard nothing further and continued paying the rent.
In the spring of 2025, the sisters received an eviction notice…
