NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — As the end of the MetroCard era draws closer, the MTA is sending the New York City icon out with a bang by bringing back one of its earliest iterations.
The MTA is giving away limited editions of the original blue MetroCard, first launched in 1994. Only four winners will be selected to win the cards.

Like the originals from the ’90s, the giveaway will feature cards that have images of New York City locations on the back, like Radio City Music Hall and the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
The giveaway is open for entries until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 18 to anyone 18-years-old and older. Winners will be contacted by direct message on Instagram.
