NEW YORK (PIX11) — New York City public school students are getting an extended winter break this year.
Winter break will now run from Wednesday, Dec. 24, to Friday, Jan. 2. Students will officially return to the classrooms on Monday, Jan. 5.

Students were originally expected to return for classes on Friday, Jan. 2, according to an earlier version of the school’s calendar. Including weekends, it means the students will now have 12 days off instead of 9.
All students will also have Jan. 19 off in observance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Middle and high school students will have Jan. 26 off as it is marked as a Professional Development Day…
