A teenage girl fell to her death from the Chapin School in New York City.

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, police responded to the 911 call at the school, located at 100 East End Avenue, a representative for the New York Police Department confirms to PEOPLE.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 14-year-old female at the above location with injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position. EMS responded and transported the female to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased,” a representative for the NYPD told PEOPLE in a statement…
