Pope Leo taps Bishop Ronald Hicks to succeed Cardinal Dolan

Pope Leo XIV has named Bishop Ronald Hicks of Joliet, Illinois, to succeed retiring Timothy Cardinal Dolan as archbishop of New York.

Dolan was named Archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009 and led the archdiocese for 16 years. The Vatican said Thursday morning that Pope Leo had officially accepted his resignation.
