UPDATE: Fire During Plumbing Repairs Triggers Two-Alarm Blaze In Hackensack, Captain Says

A two-alarm fire that damaged a Hackensack home Saturday afternoon, Dec. 20, was ruled accidental and caused by soldering during plumbing repairs, fire officials said.

The fire began in a first-floor bathroom at a home on 416 Maple Hill Dr., before spreading to the second floor and attic, according to Hackensack Fire Capt. Kurt Nemeczek.

Two hose lines were operated to extinguish the fire, and Hackensack Fire Department crews continued checking for hot spots as of about 3 p.m. Hackensack Fire Department First Platoon was on duty at the time under the command of Deputy Fire Chief Pete Greco, Nemeczek said…
