BROOKLYN, NY – A quiet Saturday evening erupted in gunfire when an unidentified individual opened fire toward a group of people in front of 193 Sheffield Avenue around 8:35 p.m., authorities said. The suspect displayed a firearm and discharged several rounds before fleeing on foot northbound on Sheffield Avenue.
No injuries were reported, and police said the motive remains under investigation. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area for witnesses who may have seen the shooter before or after the attack.
Shell casings were recovered at the scene, and the street was briefly closed as crime scene technicians processed evidence. The incident has drawn concern among residents, many of whom described hearing multiple shots before seeing the suspect run off into the darkness.
