BRONX, N.Y. – A 64-year-old man was hospitalized after being attacked inside a Bronx church on Christmas Eve by an unknown individual who had stolen a candle from the altar, police said.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, at a church located at 627 East 187th Street. According to investigators, the suspect entered the church, removed a candle from the altar, and was confronted by the victim, who attempted to retrieve it.
Police said the suspect then struck the man in the face, fracturing his orbital bone, before fleeing in an unknown direction. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition…
