As rats roam platforms, NYC subway riders not happy as fares hit $3

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New year, same old problems: New Yorkers are battling the subway blues, which increased its price for passage Sunday.

Now $3 a pop, subway riders are grappling with yet another boosted expense without feeling like there’s much to show for it.

Ian Ward told the Gothamist Sunday, “I just feel like that if you’re gonna pay $3, we better have world-class service now. I still see rats on the subway. I still see a lot of track work being done.”…
