Kristi Noem Announces ICE ‘Takedown’ in New York City

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday announced details of “Operation Salvo,” a takedown of dozens of members of Dominican gang Trinitarios in New York City allegedly tied to the shooting of an off-duty CBP officer in July.

The operation has led to the arrest of 54 individuals in NYC, the vast majority of which have criminal charges against them, according to Noem. She encouraged everyone to work with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) authorities when possible, saying that the nation needs to “come together” on the issue.

The secretary also praised the administration’s overall immigration crackdown, telling reporters: “Thanks to President Trump, we have 2.6 million people who left our country, who shouldn’t have been here in the first place.”…
