Son accused of beating mom, 76, to death with skateboard in NYC

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — A son is accused of beating his 76-year-old mother to death with a skateboard in the Lower East Side apartment they shared days before Christmas, authorities said Wednesday.

Wei Hou, 41, was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge for allegedly killing Zhu Hou inside the apartment in the gated community on Monroe Street in Manhattan on Dec. 18, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said the mother and son often fought because the victim believed he was stealing money from her to support his alleged drug habit. She let him move in with her in October.
