See Projected Snowfall Totals: First Map Out For New Winter Storm

The first detailed snowfall projections are out for a new winter storm set to move through the Midwest and Northeast, with AccuWeather forecasting significant snow from Wednesday, Jan. 14, through Friday morning, Jan. 16.

According to AccuWeather, snow will begin in parts of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio on Wednesday before shifting into the Northeast by Wednesday night. The heaviest snowfall is expected in central and eastern New York, northern Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

The new map shows:

  • Central and eastern New York (including Albany and Buffalo): 3 to 6 inches, with up to 12 inches possible in higher elevations
  • Northeast Pennsylvania (Scranton area): 1 to 3 inches
  • Connecticut and Massachusetts (including areas near Burlington and western MA): 1 to 6 inches
  • Northern New England (Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine): 3 to 12 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, especially near Burlington and Bangor
